Middle East Water and Environment consulting engineers was established in July 2004. The founders and shareholders of MEWE were previous Water Research Center (affiliated to Iranian Ministry of Energy) management team. They organized present company, based on the government’s policy of invoking specialized private firms in the field of water engineering.
At the beginning, activities were mostly focused on the studies and designs in the field of water and tailings management in the mines. Through the years the fields of work were expanded to cover topics like mineral processing, water resources and environmental studies in different industries, seawater desalination plants and civil aviation supporting industries. Expansion of fields of activities has led to growth in the number of staff as well as in the work space area. At present (2010) with total staff of 120, MEWE is working in different central and construction site offices in Tehran and different cities.
From the very start of its work, MEWE has always had the chance to cooperate with well reputable companies in different projects. In the past six years, joint works have been done with companies of countries from four continents except Africa, but all in projects inside Iran.
Putting the name of Middle East in the company’s name reflects the will of expanding the company’s market to the Middle East region. At the time being, MEWE has two ongoing projects in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.
Frequent displacement of Iranian public authorities as big clients, has always been considered as a threat for consulting and construction companies. A positive remark in MEWE’s history is that it has been able to change this threat into an opportunity. So that by sitting in new positions, and considering their satisfaction with MEWE’s services, the authorities have once again invited MEWE into their new projects, leading to opening of new fields of activities.
